Hi Children!

Today we will also meet in a Videoconference to continue reading the story. During the conference, we will work on the following:

  1. Let’s revise the story:
What do we know about Charlie so far? What is his problem? Why is he so upset? Which activities does his mother suggest? What is his reaction?
  2. Let’s make predictions:
What do you think will happen next?  (make a point on the use of will to make predictions based on opinion):
  3. Let’s work on some vocabulary first:
Tch will show ss some words and challenge them to look those words up. The first one to find the definition can read it out loud. We’ll explain them that those words will appear in the story later. When this happens they will say STOP and we will analyse if the definition given by them was right or not.
  4. Tch will continue reading the story, checking understanding and vocabulary.

  6. You can go back to your folder and revise the following : author, characters, setting, theme. Tch will ask them to give some definitions and find examples in the story.

THEME: The big idea or subject that runs through a story when you read it

SETTING: The time and place in which a story takes place

AUTHOR: The person who writes a story/poem/book.
