Toda y we will go over the story “The Name Jar”. We will analyse Unhei’s relation to her name.

We will discuss the following questions:

  • How did Unhei’s feelings about her name change throughout the story?
  • What made her feelings change?
  • Why was Unhei’s name so special to her and her family?
  • Why are names so important to people? Why or why not?

After that we will start reflecting upon our relations with our own names.

We will discuss the following:

  • what does your name mean?
  • Do people mispronounce your name ? if so, how does it make you feel?
  • How do I feel about my name?
  • Have you ever felt the need to change your name?
  • What is the alternative name I would have chosen for myself? Why?
