GRAMMAR GROUPS: Passive Voice PART II

Hi kids!! Today we are meeting again in the grammar groups to keep on working with the Passive voice.

Last week, we were able to identify the different parts of the sentences in the Active Voice: SUBJECT, VERB, OBJECT. We also introduced the Past Participle.

Today we will work on the Passive Voice in the past.

Check the steps:

  • STEP 1: Identify the different parts of the Active sentence.
  • STEP 2: Identify the verb and ask yourself whether it is in the past or in the present.
  • STEP 3: Begin the passive sentence by turning the object of the active sentence into the subject of the passive sentence.
  • STEP 4: Ask yourself whether the new subject is plural or singular.
  • STEP 5: Add the verb TO BE taking into consideration tense and number(singular o plural).
  • STEP 6: Add the verb in the past participle.
  • STEP 7: If it is present, add the word BY followed by the doer of the action.

For example:

  • MY FRIEND SAW TWO BLUE WHALES ON THE BEACH.
  • TWO BLUE BIRDS WERE SEEN BY MY FRIEND ON THE BEACH.

Great!

Now, for next class you can keep on memorizing some verbs in the Past Participle. Complete this chart:
